We are a group of Mechanical Engineering students at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa (UHM) in pursuit of our degrees. In order to do so, a capstone project that brings together all the knowledge we have accumulated throughout our years as students must be completed before the time of our graduation. As such, we have come together as one team in order to compete in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers' Human Powered Vehicle Challenge (ASME HPVC). Ke Koa ‘Ehā O Ke Alahele, "The Fourth Warriors of the Road", was created with the mindset that we will be designing and manufacturing our own  mechanically sound HPV which we will compete in the ASME HPVC and place at least third overall.

Who are we?

The name choice for our team was an obvious one. Our team is not the first HPV team to come from UHM; prior teams before us have taken on this challenge, succeeding and failing in many different ways. It is from them that we learn and it is their legacy that we carry on our backs by taking on the name, "The Fourth Warriors of the Road". The pride of coming from our islands is what allows us to take on the Hawaiian name, "Ke Koa Ehā O Ke Alahele". We are the fourth generation of "Ke Koa" riders and engineers and, through our hard work, we can motivate future generations for many years to follow.

Why "Ke Koa ‘Ehā O Ke Alahele"?
